Abstract:

With this thesis the aim is to firstly present the problems observed in an large scale abandoned site in the urban centre, next to a major tourist attraction. This is the site of the old Porto – Boavista train station, now out of use. Then to suggest a proposal for an intervention that would take into account the needs of the place and re-include it in the urban mesh, as well as provide better access across the area and new functions, such as commerce, living, parking and public dwelling capable of supporting the adjacent spaces at times of public events. It is intended for the creative process that lead to the final solution to be clearly described.
