Vessel Concert Hall

Monument to movement

The building for the dance hall would be a monument to the true dwellers of the area, the ships, and would have the place of some sort of idol for the periodic nautical rituals that take place around this pier, namely the Helsinki Tall Ship Race. The building is a celebration of the life and movement, both for boats that sail around it and the people dancing inside, and materializes the city’s connection with the sea.

Circulation

Due to the scarcity of walls and corridors in the public areas, most space division is perceived thanks to the height differences.

From the entrance platform on the first floor, the visitor may choose to come down to the café and open balcony, or to climb the ramp leading to the restaurant on the upper floor.
